Having
good friends is very important. They can make your life a lot happier.
They can comfort you when you are
sad. They can help you when you are in despair. But building
a true friendship is not easy. So,
what is true friendship? Here, Andrew and Cindy are talking about
the topic.
Andrew:
I¡¯m very disappointed in Josh. I thought he was my best friend, but
he wasn¡¯t.
Cindy: What happened between you two? Did you
have an argument with him?
Andrew: No, I just found out that having
fun is more important than a friend for him. When I called him yesterday
to ask for help, he lied to me because he was
having fun with other friends.
Cindy: Oh, that¡¯s terrible. Then, he
is not your true friend. You see, a true friend is always honest with you and stays
with you no matter what happens to
comfort you.
Andrew: I guess a true friend knows how
I feel and will be on my side whenever I¡¯m having a hard time.
Cindy: Right. A true friend sometimes
sacrifices himself for you.
For example, when you need
him, he will wake up even in the middle of the night,
giving up a good night¡¯s sleep in order to just be there
for you. That¡¯s what true friends do for each other!
Andrew: I think a true friendship requires trust, sacrifice, honesty, loyalty, forgiveness, and understanding.
Cindy: Yes. A true friendship takes time
to develop and the two friends
have to make efforts together to
make the relationship last.
Andrew: Even when there is a conflict between the true
friends, they try to understand and forgive each other. So the
problem usually doesn¡¯t last long.
Cindy: Exactly! Come to think of it¡¦ I have
many friends, but I don¡¯t know who my true friend is. How can I tell
if someone is my true friend or not?
Andrew: A true friend accepts you as you are. He
or she also knows what is best for you. Let¡¯s find faithful friends since they
are priceless treasures in our lives! |
