The
Republic of Yemen is a country in Western Asia. It is located on the
Arabian Peninsula. It has
more than 200 islands. It is bordered by Saudi Arabia
to the north, the Red Sea to the west, and
Oman to the east. Yemen is
the only republic in the Middle East - the others
are kingdoms or emirates. More children are
born in Yemen than in any other Middle Eastern country every
year.
The most popular sport in Yemen is
soccer. Arabic is the country¡¯s
official language. The country
was divided in two until its unification. North Yemen
and South Yemen became one country in 1990.
