Indonesia
is a country in Southeast Asia. It has the
world¡¯s fourth largest population. The population
is expected to reach 315 million by 2035. About 86
percent of the population is Muslim and 9 percent are
Christians. As it is close
to the equator, Indonesia has a
tropical climate. Its capital is Jakarta.
Indonesia is made up of 17,508 islands. About 6,000 of these
islands are inhabited by people. The
biggest island in Indonesia is Sumatra. Of the 10 largest
islands in the world, three are located in Indonesia. Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur very often in Indonesia.
The country has over 400 active volcanoes and there
are over three earthquakes per day.
Indonesia
is home to many different plant
and animal species. It is also home
to some of the rarest creatures in the world, including miniature deer, fish that climb trees to catch insects, and spiders that catch and eat
small birds in giant webs. You can also find the
largest lizard in the world, the
Komodo dragons, in Indonesia.
Badminton and soccer are
the two most popular sports in Indonesia.
Chili, coconut milk, fish, and chicken
are major ingredients in Indonesian
cooking. There are 316 ethnic groups in Indonesia.
The official language is Indonesian, but 670 dialects are also used in
