Many American children spend a lot of time in front of TV. They often
see junk food advertisements on TV. It can make them enjoy unhealthy
snacks. They often ask their
parents for snacks which they have seen on TV ads.
Recently,
Disney decided to help combat childhood obesity.
It will restrict junk food commercials on all Disney
channels during programs for children under 12. Also, all food ads
that will be aired at time slots for young kids
will have to pass Disney¡¯s strictnutritionalstandards. For example, cereals should have under
10 grams of sugar per serving.
Disney will also provide other programs to
help in the fight against child obesity. It will reduce the sodium content of all children¡¯s
meals served at Disney¡¯s theme parks by 25 percent.
It will also activelypromote exercising and healthy
eating. Let¡¯s hope Disney¡¯s efforts work!
