Recently,
hundreds of Hartlepool United fans traveled more than 370 kilometers
to watch their team¡¯s final game of the season
against Charlton Athletic in London. Surprisingly, they dressed
up as the Smurfs! The organizer of the event, John Pearson, said
dressing up for the final game of the season is a tradition at Hartlepool United.
It dates back 25 years.
The fans quickly
became an internet sensation after pictures
of them on trains, waiting on the platform, and crammed onto an elevator went viral. Hartlepool
manager Neale Cooper said
he was grateful for the fans¡¯ support.
¡°I got a message
from friends in Scotland saying the Smurfs are invading Charlton
and then I saw the pictures, it¡¯s fantastic,¡± he said. ¡°It
means the world to the players
the support we have.¡±
