We
cut our hair almost every month at hair salons or barber shops. Hairdressers work very hard
to make our hair look good. There are many
world-famous hairdressers
such as Vidal Sasson and Patrick Anderson. Then, who is the oldest barber in the
world?
The world¡¯s oldest barber is Anthony Mancinelli from America. He is
listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world¡¯s oldest
barber. He started working as a barber when he was only 12 years old.
At that time, he started the job to make extra pocket money. He just turned 99 on March 2. To
our surprise, he is still doing the job!
When Mr. Mancinelli started working as a barber 87 years ago, a haircut cost 25 cents. Now a haircut
from him costs 12 dollars. According to his customers, Mr. Mancinelli
is an excellent barber and his
fingers are still very fast and accurate. ¡°He is the fastest barber I know,
and he still cuts very straight,¡± said Mike Jaffe,
one of Mr. Mancinelli¡¯s long-time customers.
On a busy day,
Mr. Mancinelli takes care of 25 to 30 customers. But he is always
energetic and has a smile
on his face. That is why people love getting a haircut from him. His
secret to good health is
eating well and never drinking or smoking.
While giving his customers a haircut, he talks about the usual things, the weather, and the happenings around the town.
¡°I enjoy talking to people, it¡¯s the best part of the job,¡± said Mr.
Mancinelli.
Don¡¯t you want to get a haircut from the world¡¯s oldest barber someday? I do! Stay healthy, Mr. Mancinelli! |
