The Economic Gap between the Two Koreas

North and South Korea share the same roots. However, they have many differences because the two nations have been separated for almost 60 years. The two countries are run on different political and economic policies.
Recently, a report was released showing the differences between the two nations.
On January 5, Statistics KoreaÅë°èû released a report detailing the economic conditions of North and South Korea. The report says that the economic gap between the two nations is huge; the economic scale of the South is 37 times bigger than that of the North.

The Gross National Income (GNI) of South Korea was $ 837 billion, while North Korea¡¯s was $ 22 billion in 2009. In addition, the trade volume of the South is 200 times larger than the North. On the other hand, there¡¯s something that North Korea excels at compared to South Korea; natural resources, such as coal and iron.
The amount of natural resources buried in North Korea is estimated to be 10 times larger than the amount found in South Korea. The report says that these resources could be worth as much as 7,000 trillion won!
