Physical Education Is Good for Your Grades
Untitled Document
What is your favorite class? These days, many children don¡¯t really like to attend physical education (PE) class. But you should participate in your PE class. Why? It is fun and good for your health.
It can also improve your grades!

According to Swedish researchers, increasing levels of physical education improves children¡¯s grades. The researchers at Malmo University in Sweden studied more than 200 schoolchildren over nine years. They followed the students since they were in third grade.

The researchers looked into the influence of physical education on children. Some children received physical education five days a week. They also received extra training in balance and coordination. On the other hand, the other children received normal levels of physical education.

The study found that 96 percent of students in the first group achieved grades that allowed them to advance to upper secondary schools. In the second group where the children received normal levels of PE, only 89 percent of students achieved such grades.

The study showed that the difference was especially evident among boys. The boys who received extra PE had much higher grades in many subjects compared to those who received the normal amount of PE. The researchers concluded that physical education plays a very important role for growing children.

¡°Many schools pared down physical education and children participate in physical activities only once or twice a week,¡± said Ingegerd Ericsson, who led the study. ¡°Through our long-term study we scientifically confirmed that daily physical education not only helps children stay healthy but also improves their grades.¡±
