 Last
week, we celebrated Teacher’s Day. On that day, we once again expressed
our appreciation to our teachers.
There is a saying that goes, “We should not even step on our teacher’s
shadow out of reverence for our teacher.”
It means that we have to give respect to our teachers, but it seems
like just an old story.
It is nothing new that teachers' authority has become
weakened in Korea. It might be a result of the competitive education system.
Both students and teachers might be forced to put their priorities
on successful college entrance exams.
What is the result of that? Aren’t we missing something important:
the relationship and love between
teachers and students? It’s time to set the right priorities. |
